Renee Good Arrest Record: Family Denies Online Claims Amid Ongoing Investigation
Newly released police and fire department records have provided further details about the fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis, an incident that has sparked widespread protests and intense public scrutiny.
The documents, reviewed by 5 INVESTIGATES, include 911 call transcripts, dispatch logs, and incident reports that outline the events immediately following the shooting.
Emergency responders found Ms Good unresponsive at the scene, with only a faint pulse. A report from the Minneapolis Fire Department states that she suffered two apparent gunshot wounds to the right side of her chest, a wound to her forearm, and a possible injury to her head.
Video footage later identified the shooter as federal agent Jonathan Ross, who fired three shots into Ms Good’s vehicle.
Online misinformation and family response

As investigators continue to examine the circumstances of the shooting, Ms Good’s family has moved to address online speculation regarding her background.
In the days following her death, unverified claims circulated on social media suggesting that Ms Good had a criminal history. The rumours were widely shared under search terms such as “Renee Good arrest record”.
Her family has strongly denied the claims, stating that the information refers to a different individual with the same name.

‘That information is false’
Ms Good’s sister-in-law, Morgan Fletcher, addressed the issue publicly in a Facebook post on Monday.
She said the family had delayed responding while preparing an official statement, adding that the spread of misinformation had compounded their grief.
Ms Fletcher said the Renee Good who was killed had no criminal record and that posts suggesting otherwise were inaccurate.
She also urged the public to consider the impact of such claims on Ms Good’s family, including her children and spouse.

Emergency calls reveal confusion
The released records show that the shooting prompted numerous emergency calls from witnesses, bystanders, and officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
One DHS caller described a volatile situation, reporting that officers were surrounded and that shots had been fired. When asked to provide a description of the shooter, the caller was unable to do so.
Dispatch logs indicate that several agencies were involved in managing the scene, including local police, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), and the FBI.

Questions over scene control
According to the records, both state and federal authorities initially worked together at the scene. However, the documents suggest that federal officials later restricted access by state investigators.
The reason for this decision has not been publicly explained.
The use of force by the federal agent remains under investigation.
Protests and heightened tensions
Ms Good was shot on 7 January, during what officials described as a large-scale immigration enforcement operation in the Minneapolis area.
Since her death, the city has experienced sustained protests against the presence of ICE agents. Police estimate that tens of thousands of demonstrators have taken part in rallies across the city.
On Friday night, Minneapolis police said protesters gathered at the Canopy Hotel following reports that ICE agents were staying there. Officers said some demonstrators entered the building through an alley entrance, prompting further police response.
Ongoing investigations
Ms Good’s family has said their legal team is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting.
Authorities have not announced whether any charges will be filed, and the federal inquiry remains ongoing.
In the meantime, the family has reiterated its request for accuracy and restraint, urging the public to rely on verified information as the investigation continues.
